The earnest, heartfelt question was nothing Neil could stand against--and he didn't try when he reached the couch, just holding her for a moment as his eyes fell shut and he leaned into her touch.
"Beloved..." The endearment left him on a hoarse sigh as he sat down on the couch, settling her so she sat astride his lap. It let him look into her face, take it between his hands and pull her in for just that: a kiss with no end, no restraint--the first of many in the home they now shared together.
He didn't let himself think about that terrible eventuality, when the world that had brought them together might separate them again. While there would be no doubt that he would suffer to lose her, they would never be truly parted. He had cut his heart from his chest, he could never give it to another person. He could not be harmed, nor felled in battle...no distance between worlds could tear him off the path of dahgo.
This was the first step on the path that he didn't take alone.
"I just think it's ridiculously cute that you think you have to cajole any kiss or caress out of me." he sighed against her mouth with a smile, sliding his hands up her legs to settle on her hips as he sat back to just drink her in. "The kind of cute that makes me wanna pinch your cheeks and shit."
