Family lore says that the Blairs are descended from the blood of dragons, forged in the fire that gives them their magic--and their trademark tempers.

Neil Blair is no exception.

The latest in a long line of warrior mages, Neil was trained to fight by the most vicious of human killers in the darkest corners of the underworld, and learned the arcane crafts under the tutelage of wizards from the court of the Night Dragon, sovereign of the distant, dragon-ruled kingdom of Nocturne. With his combat skill and an innate talent for manipulating dragon fire, he earned a reputation as a lethal assassin, spoken of in hushed whispers as Black Fire, the Night Dragon's right hand, and Kingslayer for the dragon monarchs he is known to have butchered, allowing his master to claim their lands and expand his empire.
